ISSUES

PROMOTE SECOND AMENDMENT

Matthew is an NRA member with a concealed carry license. He is proud to promote responsible gun ownership, and advocates for teaching hunter safety classes to kids. He will stand strong for the 2nd Amendment in the state legislature.

EXPAND MEDICAID ACCESS

Refusing to expand Medicaid has cost our state $2 billion, and kept quality health insurance from 150,000 people. Over 70% of Kansans support expanding access to affordable coverage which will save lives, lower expenses for everyone, and cost the state little.

PROTECT TRANSPORTATION BUDGET

K-15 and I-35 are crucial to residents of District 81. Matthew will stop the raids on the KS Department of Transportation's budget and protect funding for road maintenance and improvement.

DEFEND EDUCATION FUNDING

Sam Brownback's cuts to public education were a disaster. Thankfully, Republicans and Democrats came together to restore its funding to constitutional levels. As a USD 260 school board member, Matthew will stand strong against further attacks on teachers and public education.

SECURE AND PROTECT JOBS

Every able Kansan should feel the dignity of work. As a labor leader in SPEEA, IFPTE Local 2001, Matthew has fought for years to secure stable, sufficient jobs for workers in the aerospace field. As state representative, he will work tirelessly to bring more jobs into District 81.

CUT FOOD SALES TAX

Kansas has the second-highest sales tax rate on food in the country. A tax on groceries affects working Kansans the most - that's why Matthew will work to cut and eventually eliminate it in the State House.
